Your Vote

Well I am a citizen. Both my parents have visa's to be here and are working to get their citizenship. I do think it is important for every person that is a citizen should vote. If they have the age. They should. It's a very big decision for everyone in the United States that could either change the way we live or make things worse. If we don't vote then start whining about the new President not doing anything about who knows what topic. Those people really shouldn't even talk because for one they didn't do take the ten minutes to go and vote for a good candidate.

I did vote in the past election. It was my first time being able to vote so I was very very excited to go and say my name, get the paper and stand in the little space for me to vote. I voted before a lot of people because I had to leave the state and I wouldn't be there on the election night so I right away ran to a voting area and voted. It made me feel like I had a sense of power! Like my voice was going to be heard. I felt great.

In school everyone would always be talking about the campaign. It was probably the first time that I heard so many teenagers interested in an election. But mostly what I heard was Obama's name. Since my school was very populated with more students like Hispanics and African Americans. I'm thinking most of the students didn't even know what Obama would be giving to the people. I think they just wanted him to win for the same reason that he was African American. I voted for Obama because of his main issues he was going to target. Education and health care. So now he is president and I am very hopeful for the future.

CHARACTER

Abraham Lincoln. When I image him all I see is his top hat. Very tall to add to that! And his mole! Not trying to seem mean but that is what I see in my head when I hear his name. Well also the theater. I honestly don't think that he would get elected if he were to run as president now. Mainly because of his looks.

Many presidents looks now a days are handsome. And look nicely cut. This election Hilary Clinton ran for presidency and she's a good-looking woman. The vibe she gives from her appearance gave some of us I think a sense of safety and motherly love. But also because hello she was a woman running between all those men.

I think it's wonderful that the campaigns are shown on television now. It gives us a chance to see the candidates and well I have to admit I tend to kind of put my vote to the better looking one. I'm not saying looks are all that matter. But when I would see John McCain I always wanted to be able to touch his face! He looks like he would be a soft person! But Barrack Obama won the elections. He is a very handsome man. Very handsome.

Downloading Music

Downloading music illegally is becoming more and more popular from what I have seen and learned. But I don't think many down loaders have an idea that it is illegal and the amount it could end up costing them if they are caught! Apparently it's a very big amount. And per song not just one amount for everything! It honestly doesn't affect my life majorly because I have stopped doing the fraud, (please don't turn me in! I wasn't aware it was illegal). But I know of a lot of people that would be in a big dept if they were to be caught for downloading.

If I were an musician and had knowledge that my music was being downloaded illegally. It would upset me because for one, I'm not gaining anything from it! But at the same time if it's being downloaded frequently then I am flattered. My music is liked! But I would still greatly appreciate it if my Cd's were bought so I could gain some profit from it.

Me and Music

I remember there was one artist that was liked by so many people. She grew up singing both spanish and english music. Even though she didn't even speak spanish at first. Her name was Selena, a tex-mex singer. Her music was romantic and with beat and rhythm. Till one day she was shot and murdered by a person close to her. That day will be remembered by many. So many people mourned her death since she was really popular and known.

My choice of music was more on the mexican side. I listened to the corridos music and romantic spanish music. Every now and then Id sneak in english music like 50 Cent,Mariah Carey my all-time favorite. My liking for music never really changed a lot. It was always either r&b or spanish music.

My favorite bands and artists would have been Duelo,Selena,Mariah Carey and Banda El Recodo. I really had a big thing for spanish bands. My parents enjoyed it too since it was in spanish so they would understand it! I never really listened to the Rap and Hip-Hop but every now and then on the radio I would sing along.

The older generation really didn't like our music since there was a lot of vulgar language in it. Then some of the video's or should I say most of them were very sexual and degrading in some points. But other then that I think some even enjoyed the beats!

I remember going to a concert in a super jam packed club. That club had been having rumors about it collapsing because of the amount of people that would attend it. One night my favorite band, Banda El Recodo came finally! They are a 17 man group with big instruments and their music did a lot of heavy stepping. I pondered whether I should go because of the rumors. I ended up going, luckily they did a max capacity for attendants. It was one of the greatest concerts I have attended. I even was able to get up on stage and dance with the group! My parents weren't really happy about that since a picture was posted on a mexican magazine!

But now I'm older, kind of. And I noticed that my taste in music has been staying the same. I don't think I'll ever change it either way. Maybe if one day the music from now stops being so vulgar and all about shooting and money. But till then,I'm staying right where i have been.
